  • decent, inexpensive 6.5" door speakers?

I need to replace the blown factory door speakers in my Miata. There are only the two door speakers, so Id like to get something that will sound good all around ( not just highs)

Is there an option that I can look at under $50?

I like Polk. I have polk's in my truck. Crutchfield's house brand, sound ordnance is pretty good as well. I have them in my car and I actually prefer them to the polk's.

Fry's has random stuff on clearance all the time, you just need to see what's in their ad and what's in stock on their site. Or you work for a salvage company, you know the dismantlers all have piles of car audio stuff laying around.

Only 2 speakers? Hell, at least my 85 Fiero SE had speakers in the headrests!

I tried several different options in my 97 I used to have with no luck. Ended up popping for the clearwater door speakers and later on the headrest speakers. Headrests already have the holes in the foam, just need to be added and wires ran. Made a huge difference.

So Miatas have headrest speakers too? Ok, my opinion of them isn't completely ruined.

Actually 6. Two 6.5's in the doors, two tweeters in the doors, and two little speakers between the seats.

One day, after I do my engine mods I am going with these. Pretty decent reviews online and the Miata speakers run at like 2 ohms or some shit.

I also have heard this will drop under the passenger seat.

Yeah I tried the kenwood variant of that boss woofer thing and it might work decently in a quiet car, but I couldnt even hear it with the top up on mine. Making a woofer box that goes under the dash on the passenger side footwell seems to be the best option. I made my own and between that and clearwaters, it sounded great. I did it all with the factory deck too so I didnt have to worry about theft. It worked out well.

Edit: I think that 2 ohm thing only applies to bose cars.

                              Not all of them, unfortunately.

Mine is an early low option car, so only the two door speakers from the factory in mine.

The BOSE sub that is in the nissan Murano spare tire will fit in the miata 15" spare, and there is a guide to rewiring the two 4" subs in sieries to make them 4ohm, and you can run a seperate amp to power them. Ive got one Im going to try out.
