  • Super duty sound upgrade opinions

I plan to be in this truck for awhile so I wanna upgrade the entire sound system. I'm looking at infinity kappas for the front but I'm not sure if it's worth upgrading the rears. I've seen mixed opinions on that so I'm torn. I will have an amp to drive the front and back. I'll add subs later to even it out more but I'm not huge on bass.

So my questions are should I swap the rear speakers and what's a decent amp?

The fronts are way more important, so don't cut into your front budget for rears. If you have money left over, go ahead, but no need for anything crazy. A sub is important for a good stereo system. Doesn't have to be bass heavy, but your door speakers aren't made to play sub bass frequencies very well. Your system will sound unbalanced without a sub.

Options are endless depending on your desires and budget.

EW (Eric) is the man to see. He is over at Autosound in Bedford.

The system in my F250 is pretty crazy and sounds great. I'm sure you're not wanting to go quite that balls out, though. And yes, I upgraded my rear speakers.

Use a good deadener in the doors and then consider adding it to the back wall, floors, roof, etc.

Cool info I recently discovered is that you can swap the driver's side and passenger side window motors that usually interfere with larger speakers. Im going the budget route and simply putting an amp on 2 6x9s in my front doors to keep up with the 12w7 that's already in my truck.

There is a guy that builds a really nice box in OK that fits two 12" pioneer shallow mount subs that still works with rear sliding glass. His price was reasonable also. Search on thedieselstop and you'll find him.

Did not know this, now I need to think about doing this in my dually. I'm about to put the two subs in the back, I have a set of quart components I was going to use upfront, but I'd rather put them in my car honestly. How hard are the motors to remove?

Subthump makes one for just over 100 bucks. I think a few other places do as well.

Eric with Autosound built my box too. Every else is stock though, just wanted a little bass.

You remember the stories John use to tell us about the the three chinamen playing Fantan? This guy runs up to them and says, "Hey, the world's coming to an end!" and the first one says, "Well, I best go to the mission and pray," and the second one says, "Well, hell, I'm gonna go and buy me a case of Mezcal and six whores," and the third one says "Well, I'm gonna finish the game." I shall finish the game, Doc.

                  Extremely easy. 3 screws iirc.

Eric did the system in my F150 as well. Very happy with it.

Just wanted to add a +1.. Eric at Autosound is definitely a solid choice if anyone here doesn't already know. His shop has done work on 4 or 5 of my vehicles over the last 8 years or so.
