I have an Onkyo right now that I've been using for like 10 years with no issue. Problem now is that, it's outdated...lol. Mine only has 2 optical inputs for audio and I need more. I need one that has HDMI inputs instead. I came across this one, which isn't too bad on price($379). I do plan on upgrading my speakers at a later date.

I will never buy another Onkyo receiver as long as I live. If you have a PS3 that you plan to run through the receiver, keep on looking for another brand. I have the SR606, and I have the all too common HDCP handshake issue. I don't know of a single person with a relatively new Onkyo receiver that DOESN'T have this issue.Originally posted by BradMBut, just like condoms and women's rights, I don't believe in them.Originally posted by LeahIn other news: Brent's meat melts in your mouth.

I'm running a Harman Kardon AVR-2600 and it sounds beautiful, and I'm passing 4 HDMI inputs (xbox, bluray, dvr, and camera) through 2 outputs (TV and projector) without any handshake issues at all."When the people find that they can vote themselves money, that will herald the end of the republic." -Benjamin Franklin

If I'm not mistaken, jluv has three Onkyo receivers. Two of which I think are HTIB setups, and I don't know the model numbers, but every one of his receivers has the HDCP handshake issue.
Mine worked fine at first. Then as time went on, it took longer, and longer, and longer for the receiver to receive the PS3 signal. Mine is almost to the point of not recognizing it at all. I sometimes wait 30+ minutes just to be able to watch a blu ray or play a game. I actually pulled it last night, and ran it directly to the TV. Which sucks, when you've become used to the surround sound while gaming.
This also makes the DTS-HD totally fucking useless. The whole reason I bought the fucking thing, and it's a fucking piece of fucking shit. Onkyo refuses to recognize the problem, so good luck getting it fixed if you end up with an Onkyo.
Pardon my language. I'm more than just a little pissed that I spent what I spent on this pile of shit, and it doesn't fucking work. Silly me, expecting shit to work as advertised.Originally posted by BradMBut, just like condoms and women's rights, I don't believe in them.Originally posted by LeahIn other news: Brent's meat melts in your mouth.

Onkyo definitely gets my thumbs up. That's a good AVR. Spec's look good. Go for it. I've had several different brands AVRs in the past and under the 1K range, I feel Onkyo is the best. I know it's debatable and I also know there are a lot of other good AVRs, like Marantz, Harmon, etc..Just my opinion. Hell, even my first HDMI switching Onkyo had clean dialogue reproduction, good imaging, great surround detail, and solid power. And the 1080p upconversion worked great with no HDCP issues with any of my other AV gear.
