  • Home Media Room Help

Getting into a new house. The media room is 13x17
    13 feet wide that is.

Using reward points so i need whatever i can get from Best Buy.
What are the pros and cons with projection vs flat panel TV

    What size screen?
    What sound set up?

Just getting started looking into it really.
If i could keep it around $5,000 that'd be great. That rules out a 80-90 inch flat panel though. :/ However If a LED Smart TV is better thats what i'll get.

Thanks in advance for any help....

Why not go with a projector?

If you can control the light, projection all the way... Most bang for your buck. Limiting yourself to Best Buy kinda sucks, much better deals on better equipment out there.

My room is 14x20. I have 2 rows of seating and a 130" screen with Epson 8350 projector. Looks great!

Projection is fine, I don't know the difference.
I just noticed they are a lot cheaper.

Best Buy has dozens of different ones, none of them good? It doesn't get cheaper than free. I have over 5 million reward points on the CC.

          Brands to look for?
          Speaker systems to look for?

Yes controlled lighting with no windows.

          Thanks Guys!

Far as I recall only Mitsubishi had a giant projection TV. Onyko makes a good stereo. Then something connected to the internet...XBOX, Apple TV, PC, etc.

Still, like the others said your options will be limited at Best Buy. Do some research on sites like Amazon, Crutchfield, or NewEgg first.

Finally don't fall for the Monster cables. www.monoprice.com for all your cable needs.

                Thank you!

I was starting think Martin Logan
Bowers & Wilkins Weren't good brands any more.
                Just went up there.

After looking at good projectors and screens I think I'm going to just do the Sharp 80" LED. I think I'm sold on the B&W's after lisensing to them. They had a setup the same price as the Martin Logan.

It's going to be right at 1 million reward points or $10k for everything. Haha geez it adds up But he said he'd give me a discount for that big an order.

projector and screen is where it's at... just sayin', especially in a dedicated theater room that you have control over the lighting and no windows

That is a pretty good sized room you have. 80" is... well... kinda puny

^ I agree, why settle for 80" when you can go so much bigger!? I had 120" against the wall then picked up a free 98" screen, the picture is better but I'll be going back to 120" when I find the right screen. I think you might regret the 80", especially if you're sitting far back in that room.

You're going to regret getting that small of a tv. It going to get swallowed by that big room. Get a projector.

Damn, well I was able to withdraw some reward points into my bank so I have cash now I can buy it anywhere.

What about the 90"? You can get them for $6100 online. The room is only 13 feet wide.
The back wall is also cut in so I need to measure what will fit. There's about a foot or more on each side then it goes in about 6 inches.

Still think too small? The audio guy was suggesting 90" TV or a max of 110" projector.

See they have a cut in area so not sure how big I can go yet. :/

I'll have to measure it but 90" may fill it pretty good.

Not gonna lie, the 90" LED is pretty fucking sick. LOL

I would go as big as you can though, depending on your space.
