  • Home media subwoofer not working.

This may be a long shot, but does anyone on here know anything about home media subwoofers? I moved recently and it doesn't work now. It's an Infinity TSS-Sub500, and it's about 4 years old. I don't even know how to take the thing apart. There are screws around the outside of the back panel, but even after I removed then, the back panel doesn't seem to want to come off.

It's powered (plugs into the wall), and the fuse looks fine. The power light comes on when I flip the on/off switch...maybe something just jiggled loose inside in the move? I'd like to try and fix it before I just go out and buy another one, I just can't figure out how to get inside the damn thing.

Make sure the audio IN connection is good. I have a powered sub too and the stupid D connector doesn't seat well and you have to jam the cable in to make it work.

The connection is good. I even tried hooking it up via 3.5mm to RCA Left and Right cable to iPod and no sound comes out.

electronics dont work well when the smoke escapes. You have to keep the smoke inside.

                      I'm lol'ing.

Ratt, surely you have seen things smoke that never work again?

I used this comment at work the other day, and no one on the call got it. "Someone let out the magic smoke" in regards to a Prod server that died. Where do these folks live???

My Def Tech sub had something similar happen to it. Power light worked, fuse was ok, but no sound. I called their tech support and describe the situation. They sold me a new circuit board. I had to unscrew the rear panel and remove the speaker in the front. I ended up having a fried resistor. Put everything back together and all is good. It was all just unplugging a board and plugging it back in. New board, with shipping cost me $118.

So...long story short, call Infinity's tech support. :P

I don't think this sub is worth repairing if it's going to cost anything. It is just a 100 watt active sub that came in the TSS Home-Theater-In-a-Box system I bought 4 years ago. Sounds like I got a good reason to upgrade.
