  • Car stereo question

I'm planning on upgrading the audio equipment in my blazier, and I have a question for those more car audio smart than I am.

I have tons of music on my phone that I want to be able to play in my truck.

    What are my options?
Would a head unit with plug-in capabilities be best?

    Is bluetooth an option?

I'm way out of the loop on current car audio technology, so all help is appreciated.

I have an alpine that controls my android phone's music via bluetooth, and I love it. IIRC the options if you have an iPhone were greater, but the market is catching up.

Most headunits with Bluetooth can stream audio from your phone BUT with an iPhone, it is better to plug it in to the USB input. It will sound and operate much better as well as charge. Alpine starts at $109. The higher end models may have a newer Bluetooth like 3.0 instead of 2.0. The Alpine CDE-147BT is packed with features for $199.
A headphone jack usually sounds pretty bad. When you plug in an iPod/iPhone to an Alpine or other quality deck, you are using the 24Bit D/A in the deck and it makes it sound much better than streaming or headphone jack.

My Kenwood Excelon handles all my iPhone functions via cable. It's also quick, some cheaper models have a delay/lag.

Also, if listening to music through bluetooth, some, maybe all, don't display the song or artist or allow you to scroll through your library like you can if you plug directly into the head unit...
