Then the 7904 I still have won't work either. Or the pair of 3554 amps. LOL! I tend to hold on to stuff, especially when it never breaks. All of that was purchased from Sound Idea way back in the day.

I miss the simplicity of the 7903/7904/7909 AND even the 7939 although I didn't care much for its styling (7939). The 7949 went all high tech/disco/strobelight and to me lost the appeal of the understated yet high end approach which the 7909 had provided. I sold my 7949 and its changer and picked up a newer easier to use CDA-9847 (also plays MP3/WMA and has an AUX-IN).
yea Id rather have a 7939, but they are impossible to find, and have laser issues like the 7909 does... the 49 is a lot more robust and I kinda dig the look to it. its a LOT better than a 7969 with it's ugly fucken green alien looking sphere looks...

ALMOST...the 7903 is the little bro of the 7909...the 7904 came out as a cheaper alternative to the removable 7903..and did away with the pullout chassis and the built in battery for memory. I prefer the look of the EARLY 7903 over the later one which had some revised buttons on one side.

oh ok my fault. some asshat was selling a 7904 as near identical to a 7909. The pull outs are before my time, my friend had one and well, it got pulled out for him at a movie... wasnt interested in getting one to help the thieves take off with it. too lazy to yank it out everytime I parked somewhere.

while i would love to have it back i doubt i will ever own a traditional head unit again. i have some plans to do an all digital tablet setup with an audison bit10d and av5.1k.
I have an Alpine CDA-9835 sitting in a box at home, it's actually my second one and I bought after the the original one was stolen. I bought it from EW on his recommendation and it's been the best HU I've ever owned. It's also the last HU I bought (I don't count the two Alpine DVD HU's I've bought). Loved the sound quality, the Biolite display, and the features it had. I think the only drawback is it didn't have the iPod full speed connection.

Probably going to sell it soon, it's been sitting on a shelf in my room for 5 or 6 years. Was going to keep it to install on my Mustang but probably going to sell that soon to.

yea i still think it is the best. it looked amazing and performed top notch. i think that whole slider bar shit started the generation after.

i would buy it from you but i don't think i will ever run a single din unit again or a traditional head unit at all since i was spoiled with an in dash tablet.

Exactly, when I bought it the first time they were just coming out with the Glide feature and I didn't care for it and was fortunate Eric still had this one left. I've since read that the Glide was shit and had all kinds of problems. I think the Biolite display was the best display that Alpine ever had. Looking at the current Single DIN units, the displays look like shit but they do have some great features like more BT support and Pandora support for Android which is nice.
