It's tough to go too big. Very easy to go too small and end up with TV envy. I have a 50" plasma in the bedroom, and my head is probably 10-12 feet from it, and it's not too big by any means.
But, something to consider - this big (Samsung) plasma puts off a ton of heat. It makes the entire bedroom at least 5 degrees warmer. It's like a fireplace. My LCDs and DLP don't put off nearly as much heat. The picture on the plasma rocks, though.Comment

I had a 42" in my room. This unfortunately sent me down the path of not being able to fall asleep unless i had a tv playing something in the background. Luckily plenty of devices have sleep timers on them now.sigpicComment
