I have the Yamaha RX-V673 and have no issues with my PS3 and the sound quality is awesome. Way better than the Denon it replaced.

My HK has been excellent. Best receiver I've ever owned.

I went shopping with the intentions of getting a HK... Ended up getting the Yamaha and am quite pleased with it. I couldn't tell a difference in sound quality between the 2 in the store, got the Yamaha based on features and ease of menus...

I also have a Yamaha, it's a good receiver for the money as well. At the time I bought my HK it had the nicest looking and in my opinion most functional menu. But, I'm sure since I purchased there are better options. The HK drives my Klipsch/Polk speakers very well, I've been pleased. I need a speaker upgrade before I need another receiver upgrade.

Very similar to my 673. The 867 has 5 more watts per channel, but you have to have a dock to play your ipod/phone through it. The 673 has a USB and can plug ipod/phone directly to reciever.

Ya, I picked up the dock at the same time. It's nice to control the iPod through my Harmony.

I've had the Yamaha HTR-5960 (RX-V659) for about 5 years and I have had zero complaints. I would definitely buy another.

I like my Marantz NR1603, but I'll be upgrading to an Emotiva set soon.

I'm running a Yamaha RX-V750 about 9-10 years now, pushing 10 speakers still working awesome since day 1. Wood buy another.

Can anyone recommend someone local to do the HDCP handshake fix on an Onkyo? I'm still looking at new receivers, but as much as I hate this Onkyo, that's a lot of money to set on fire. I'd like to fix it and move it to my bedroom.

from what I've seen/heard the handshake issues are primarily with devices with Deep Color turned on. Safe to assume you've turned that off on your sources? Most of the Sony Bluray players have the same issue with the HDMI-cat5 extenders we use.

I haven't done a ton of research on this particular issue, but is there a known hardware fix for it and you just need someone to actually fix it?

what handshake issues are you having? You can kill off a pin on HDMI to prevent handshake issues, fyi. I believe if you give a constant 12v source to the pin it will ignore handshake and go into bypass mode.

once upon a time i had researched this topic to find most of the onkyo hdmi issues were a result of poor capacitors on the hdmi board. some people fixed them by replacing all the capacitors on the hdmi board with good success.

my roommate had an onkyo 606 or 607. it would take about 10-15 mins after turning on to eventually display a picture. it kept getting worse and taking longer so i just reprogrammed the harmony to leave the receiver on all the time. that helped for about a year before it gave up completely.

i just gave him my old hdmi switch and programmed that in to his remote. moved to fiber optic and digital coaxial ports for audio.

if it wasn't a pile of shit, i would swap out the capacitors.
