  • No bass when Switched to CD or AUX on head unit.

Alright, so heres the deal, I just hooked up two 10" rockford fosgate P1s along with a jbl bp600.1 amp. Everything sounds awesome when the radio is playing. But when i switch it to CD or the AUX for my IPhone the amp switches off. Why is it doing this? Everything is hooked up right. Looked in my manual i had for my head unit. But it says nothing about it of course. Any solutions??? The head unit is a Sony Xplod CDX-GT24W.

    Thanks Chance,

Thats weird I know my JVC has different settings for each (cd radio etc) where i had to turn the amp back on each one and set the EQ.

Well when switched to aux, i can adjust the lows mids and highs, along with the sub. But it doesnt change anything. The amp is on when radio is playing, but switched off as soon as you switch it to CD or AUX. Kinda dumb since all i mainly listen to in my IPHone. I dont understand why its doing that.

I dont think my amp has an on/off switch. Looked for one.

There may be an additional remote wire to hook up....just guessing, though. Or there may be a setting in the radio to turn the AUX 'on'. This is the case with my Kenwood anyway.

I'm serious, and it's solid advice. Get a decent head unit and that will probably fix it.

When it goes to aux the antenna powers down and that is what u used as a power for your amp .

bingo you wired the amp turn on off the power antenna and it only has output when listeing to radio itself. Need to change to ignition wire so it is on when ever you have key on.

X 3. Should be a dedicated amp wire somewhere.

Well i bought an amp kit, then just ran the power wire to the battery, grounded it, ran the subs in parrell, hooked up the remote wire, and plugged in the the 2 rca cables. What do i need to run it then?

Amp has a bunch of other stuff i have no idea how to mess with. On the side with the RCa hook ups. it has 6 male ends on it where you can plug up 6 females to it. But idk how to use that function of it.

Are you sure you used the remote wire lead off the head unit and not the power antenna wire like they are suggesting above? Typically, the power antenna lead is solid blue and the remote lead will be blue with a white stripe. (Double check that, as it has been a minute since I hooked one up this way. I usually run my switched power from elsewhere and use a relay because I have a ton of different amps and accessories that I need to come on.) Constant 12v is usually yellow on the back of your head unit.

When in doubt, you can tap into another switched lead somewhere else on your vehicle and just run that to your amp so that it comes on with your ignition.
