I wasn't a fan of the 2005-2010 diamonds at all, too harsh. The 2011 diamonds which in the industry they nickname D2s, are amazing, but the price is starting to get insane. 805D2s are 5500 bones ;-( That's where prices start.
the 802 we used to sell, it's much nicer looking. good choice there.
i heard the 805D. i stopped into modia to order a few new drivers for some b&w FPMs and took a listen. this was last summer (2010) so i guess that makes them the older diamonds but i'm not sure. it was def. better than the non-diamond.
i like b&w alright. i have no problem owning a certain set or two for the right money but honestly i'm just not crazy about them. i they are overrated thanks to modia and their effect with the more affluent buyers in the area is astounding. i'm mostly in the same boat same way with kef. hell, i hate the industry and the resellers. shops like modia will bash everything thats not b&w. then the one off shops like audio concepts will trash anything with a big name manufacturer. it's stupid.
there are plenty of brands i would choose these days before b&w or kef was ever mentioned. i've heard way too much stuff the past few years that make me change my mind all the time. i have a good friend that essentially is a revolving door of high end equipment. he still works in the audio industry by appt only on nothing but high end big money deals. i help him out with setup, moving crap, etc. and i get to hang out and audition a bunch of setups.
the best speaker i have ever heard believe it or not is a pioneer elite (actually made by TAD):

The ONLY speakers Id consider besides BW 800s would be the high end Vienna Accoustics, and they are the same if not more money... The Strat I think is the one I heard at the old Hillcrest before they sold to Magnollia, and they were like 32k for the pair... sounded fucken awesome though.
Oh yea, if you heard the 805Ds last year, that was the old shitty one... Check out the D2s, High End Audio and Modia both have em setup. High end has some damn Nauts, but they aren't hooked up. Ive been bugging him to set them up, and he said he was going to, but then started re-work on his damn theater again. I was told Dallas Modia had em, have you heard those? Look like a huge seashell, 4 seperate speakers all requiring their own amp and crossover...

That was the utter shit, and one day I will have those exact monos. (hopefully next year!). Anyway, you and CJ def sound like you have good tastes, would be cool to meet up and demo each other's shit..

i'm not ready for this kinda stuff yet. no house. i went nuts one summer and grabbed up a parasound halo pre/pro + amp. i sold it all off, only kept the speakers. (which btw, parasound halo, i have no problem buying again. excellent value for excellent equipment).
as far as the nautilus, i saw them at dallas modia a few years ago. never heard them. goofy ass speakers!www.hppmotorsports.com

You know, I'm probably going to get laughed at, but I spent several hours sampling high dollar floor speakers a few years back, and probably one of the best sounding speakers was the Infinity Beta 50's. I couldn't even tell a difference vs. the KEF's. They still fetch a decent amount for them. For the money, they were unbeatable. Granted, it's been about 5 years since I really looked at home theater speakers. I still use a set of Klipsch's. There was another company that was really small volume making custom speakers which had a great rep and lifetime no questions asked warranty... I can't recall their name though. They also offered to ship you the speakers to try out and if you didn't like them they would cover the return shipping and refund your money."When the people find that they can vote themselves money, that will herald the end of the republic." -Benjamin Franklin

I have an HK Citation II 4 channel amp
And I run a Sony reel to reel on it, just like the one in pulp fiction. I also have 2 MC275 mac amps. My Citation II amp is matched to a Citation I preamp. They say quality is weight, and that Citation II weighs 70lbs
