Go ahead ad buy an Onkyo. You'll regret it. Thesaurus Tim refuses to believe the hundreds of thousands (if not millions) of shitty reviews online, consumers with the dreaded HDCP issues. Of it happens on the mid/high end stuff, it's going to happen on the low end stuff. He just refuses to believe it because it hasn't happened on his receiver. Yet.Originally posted by BradMBut, just like condoms and women's rights, I don't believe in them.Originally posted by LeahIn other news: Brent's meat melts in your mouth.

Well, I bought an Onkyo HITB back in '09, and it's been perfect for me. Then again, I don't use HDMI audio as my receiver isn't compatible for that audio. I only run optical. I love my Onkyo.Karussell White - 2010 Genesis Coupe R-Spec 6MT 2.0T -

I may be wrong here, but aren't the HDCP issues with HDMI?Karussell White - 2010 Genesis Coupe R-Spec 6MT 2.0T -

Ya, the issue is with HDMI. If you want 7.1, Dolby TrueHD, or DTS-HD, steer clear of Onkyo.
I used to be a fan, but I've had the issue on all 3 of my Onkyos. Bleh.
My advice is to watch Amazon, Newegg, Slickdeals, etc for a banging price on a solid receiver, and piece your shit together.
I scored a nice Yamaha and will never look back. IMO, a $250 system, or even a $400 system will just leave you wanting to upgrade.

To the OP....
I'm on my 4th Onkyo AVR. Started in the $250 range, I'm now in the $700+ range. Connected it to, I don't know..about about 10 different brands of A/V gear (samsung, magnavox, oppo, panasanic, LG, sony, DISH DVR, etc..) Never had any "handshake" issues. Oh, and that was at one time using Dayton $6 cables from partsexpress.
P.s. - I currently use Mediabridge Ultra Series 1.4 Category2 24 AWG High Speed w/ARC and Ethernet channel HDMI cables. There all backward compatible for legacy gear, so no worries. Not a single problem. Definitely, no HDCP issues and must faster or more efficient HDMI switching.
I just corrected one of these dreadful HDMI issues the other on a friends Onkyo AVR by changing his 25 ft. thinner cheaper 28 AWG HDMI (non-repeater) cable run to a 24 AWG HDMI monoprice cable. Fixed. Problems gone. It was because of the resistance the Onkyo HDMI board was putting on the smaller cable diameter over a long cable throw.
Ignore bcoop. He's just doing what he does the best. Being bitter about God knows what and being a Debbie Downer.
Onkyo gear is solid. That's why it's the top selling brands at retail giants like Crutchfield.
I've got some pretty earth shaking waterfalls from my "crappy" Onkyo gear. Feel free to shoot me a PM for tech/proper calibration/EQ/Crossover points/etc.advice regarding your AV gear.
