Fuck Onkyo and their overpriced piece of shit receivers. If you have one that actually works properly...you should put it in a museum of rare artifacts. Onkyo service and support is the worst I've ever dealt with and the rude people were actually in AMERICA and spoke ENGLISH. If someone gave me Onkyo's best Integra receiver I would post it on Ebay without opening the box. I would much rather buy a Harman Kardon, Yamaha....or god forbid...SONY before another Onkyo.

I use to run a Harman reciever, Yamaha B2X amp and two Infinty SM15's. You could watch the walls move in the house. When I build my next house I am going to run down a set of those speakers or something similar.
Whos your Daddy?

I like my 609 now after returning the first one I got, because the HDMI board went bad. Had the first one for two weeks, Newegg paid shipping both ways, and they were the cheapest at the time.

For anyone who cares, I've been using the Yamaha for a few days now, and it's wonderful. No HDMI issues at all, it sounds great, the features and UI are much more simplified. The on-screen display is leaps and bounds better that the Onkyo.
I would recommend this receiver to anyone. It was regularly $800, but I got it for half that during an online promotion. You can still get them online for about $480. Pretty sweet deal considering what this receiver offers.

for those of you with onkyo hdmi issues, there is hope to get your mediocre receiver working again to a usable level.
disclaimer, i would never buy an onkyo but from what i learned by diagnosing my friends onkyo, the majority of onkyo hdmi video boards can be fixed by swapping out 5 capacitors.

The fix I adopted was to run HDMI from the source (satellite receiver, PS3, etc) directly to the television for video, and run an optical cable from the source to the receiver for audio. I give up Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD this way, but that's not that big of a deal, considering Dish doesn't broadcast those formats (yet), and Dish makes up most of my viewing. It's just annoying to have to run both cables and know that I'm not getting the best out of my Blurays. Oh, and having to change the inputs around would be an extra pain if you don't have a remote that does it all for you (I do).

also, what's strange is my roommates receiver works perfectly with the uverse box and usually the xbox, but it doesn't work with his computer or my ps3 until it warms up first.
if the receiver is on for 10 mins watching uverse first then it works great with every other input. turn it off for a sec, the capacitors discharge and it's full of fail again.www.hppmotorsports.com

I'm sure you already tried swapping modes, pass through, resolution, cables?www.hppmotorsports.com

Do you happen to know someone that can get a card for the receiver and swap it out?
