  • My Home Theater (Almost Completed)

Thought I would post a few pictures of my almost finished theater. It's all up and running now, but I have a few things I want to finish still. Wall treatments and furniture first. I still need to finish cleaning up the wiring in the in wall rack as well.

I had a half wall in the beginning, but I wanted to enclose the room so i finished it out.

    Projector cavity

    The seating riser construction.

This is the cavity for the screen wall to house the speakers.

Yeah I know the screen isn't level in this picture. It's since been fixed along with being able to see the center support.

This is before the new sub went in.

That looks really nice. Are you doing the work yourself?

That cavity behind the screen looks pretty big, are you planning on putting something else in there?

I've done everything myself expect the mud, tape, texture of the new drywall. I also didn't install the new carpeting over the riser. I also had some help from my brother and a board member in pulling the wiring.

The cavity is basically 12ft wide and 4ft deep. The A/V rack is inset into a portion of the cavity and the speakers and the stands pretty much fill the rest.

Did you do anything for sound deadening and staging? This looks awesome BTW and makes me want to build a media room.

What do you mean by staging? I will do be doing wall treatments inside the theater along with a bass trap behind the screen.

I'm not sure of his definition, but it usually refers to positioning and re-positioning the speaker placement to get accurate imaging. One speaker may have a different fidelity depending on where it is at in the room. Usually, this is a moot point as long as they are on the same horizontal plane and right height.

Yeah likely that will need to be RE done after the wall treatments go in, but a basic set up has been done in the mean time.

Ya, thats what I was talking about. It seems like having the speakers in an open chamber like they are could cause some weird sound variances. I know a lot of people go into grave detail about how far away a speaker is to each wall or corner, some calculations and blah, blah, blah. I was just curious if you had experienced any of that or if you just placed them and used where they sat.
