Ok, people who know me know I am old. I am seeing a lot of new names in the home theater world. I have an old 2003 Kenwood 6.1 channel receiver. (VR707) I have always used the optical audio hook up instead of the RCA 6 channel or coaxial hook up. Never been real happy with the quality itself. I don't have a real expensive speaker set up, two bookself bose speakers up front, two bookself bose speakers for surround sound, A realistic 12" subwoofer with 200 watt amp and a cheap pioneer center channel speaker.
I am seeing Denon and a few other brands I have never seen before. Shit I saw a Marantz on an open box buy for $898.00 I thought these were cheap now days? I know in the old days they were very nice. I am looking for a descent (not top of the line) surround sound receiver. What do you guys suggest? I am really hoping the HDMI will help clear up a lot of the guessing in how to hook these things up correctly.
TIA for your input. The old guy.
