  • Outdoor Wireless (Bluetooth) Speakers?

I frequently entertain friends and family outside in my gazebo and I like playing music off of my iPhone, iPad, and laptop and the built in speakers are never enough so I'm always having to drag out some wired speakers to listen with. I was thinking about buying a rechargeable Bluetooth speaker box like these Logitech Wireless Speaker Z515's but now I'm wondering if I might be better with a more permanent solution.

My second idea would be to mount some outdoor amplified speakers and just plug my iPhone, iPad, etc. into the headset jack but I really like the idea of a wireless solution. Belkin makes a Bluetooth Receiver that plugs in like a microphone but I would have to have a receiver outside as the go between between the speakers and the Belkin unit.

    Any suggestions?

My suggestion is to get a portable unit that you can dock your Ipod into. This way, it will work for your gazebo, garage, camping trip, or wherever else you want to take it.

I have one that I love. Weatherproof, super durable, rechargeable, has a wireless transmitter/receiver and also an Ipod dock, gets LOUD, and the battery lasts for days. Mine is a Bacini Acoustica. I believe they are next to possible to find now, as they stopped making this model. However, there are similar products out there.

The only suggestion I have is that wireless is normally a last resort. It's awesome when it works, but a wired system will be much more consistent and have less issues day-to-day.

I'd say if you can run wires the way you want to, do it that way.

I remember that from the Colorado trip and loved it. Good sound and liked that it was portable and rechargeable. Was it wireless as well??

True that the wired system might have less issues and have better sound but I really like the idea of being able to control it from the device no matter where I am standing.

Anyway, thanks for the info. I guess I'll be searching for a portable solution.

Yep. You can dock an iPod inside of it to where it keeps it out of the elements, and it also works with a wireless transmitter that I keep hooked up to one of my Onkyo receivers. This way, whatever is playing on the Onkyo plays through the Bacini. Works great even using the stereo in the front room of the house and the Bacini playing in the backyard.
