  • Wiring help?

I have a 93 coupe and the blinkers and flashers are inop. I can put power to the wires at the multifunction switch on the column and the lights light up but they don't flash. Could someone send me a wiring schematic for the system. Thanks.

more then likely the multi function switch is bad if the relay isn't.

Can you here the blinker relay working?? Its mounted on the on the fuse pannel. The flasher relay is hang under the dash on pass. Side. If they stay on when you turn on the turn signal, then everything should be fine, just need new flasher relays.

Nothing works. The flashers don't click and the lights don't flash. I'll try another multifunction switch and see if that fixes it. Thanks

Sure sounds like a flasher. I haven't worked on a 93, but check in the fuse block or under the dash near there. Older ones use simple 2 wire flashers, one for hazards and one for turn signals. They are 1 1/4 inch metallic cylinder about 3/4 long.

Are both wires going to the flasher supposed to be hot when the flasher is plugged in

Well. I narrowed it down to the multifunction switch. I unplugged it and put a jumper wire from the flasher wire and the wires for the blinkers and they flash. So now I need a multifunction switch. Thanks for the help. I really appreciate it

Dude. Again, is this the ONLY word you know - 'derp'?

OP, as Jet said, your MF switch is likely the culprit. If memory serves me correctly, it should have 12V at the Orange wire with the yellow stripe (the plug at the top of the MF switch that's centered over the column. It sends power through the respective turn signal, through the flasher and then the bulb. The bulb bieng grounded on the other side is what makes the flasher come on and turn off)

Edit, you posted while I was writing this, loosk like you have it figured out.

Well. I replaced the mfs and the blockers still don't work. I put the flasher for the blinker in place for the hazards flasher and the hazards now work. So I bought a new one and put it in and the flashers work but still no blinkers. And the signals don't light up in the cluster. Does this have anything to do with the blinkers working? And what is the black wire coming from the ignition cylinder for?

If we're talking about the same black wire, it's at the lowest point on the switch - it's a switched on ground. I think it's black with a blue stripe.

If your turn signals aren't working and you've changed the MFS and flasher - your only problem is something in the lights not grounding.

The bulb has to ground for the flasher to work. The only way a bulb doesn't ground is it's either burned out or the socket is bad. Does the indicator in the dash come on and stay lit up?

The emergency flashers work outside. The blinkers dont. And the indicators in the dash don't come on. I can jump the wires at the connector at the mfs and make the blinkers work. But still not in the cluster.
