went through 3 home depot compressors just like you and went with the same IR unit you have. had it several year now with no prob. since your a painter, I'm sure you know you know that filter/dryer isn't doing squat that close to the outlet. Air is still too hot and will keep the moisture in suspension

Inform us that don't know ..

What makes the IR brand better than the former home lowes type compressor you were unhappy with before ?

The first compressor I bought started leaking oil out the head, 2nd bastard seized up on me and never cranked up and 3rd one the drain plug at the bottom of the compressor was busted and leaked out air a LOT and called up CH to get the new part and they sent the wrong one, so I called them up told them ill just be returning it to Lowe's and get my money back. So I did just that.

Made out of better materials and usually stuff like this that's still made in the USA is better. The old saying "you get what you pay for" applies for air compressors. Those cheap ass aluminum compressor's at lowes and home depot will more than likely not last very long if you use them a decent amount. I have a Puma 80 gallon 2-stage and it should just about last forever at the rate I use it in the garage.

Well, I kinda know a little about compressors , think maybe you ^ bought that puma in Keller ?

So, you think IR compressors are made in the USA ?

No I have no idea about the IR stuff. I've heard their industial level stuff is decent, but I would imaine the lower end line up is now built almost the same as the crap they are trying to compete with at HD and Lowes. Hencho el mexico. Probably fine for the regular folks to air up tires, run a cut-off wheel, and sand blast for an hour or two everyonce in a while. I wouldn't bet on anything I bought at a box store to run in a real shop 24x7 though.

Any of the ones you buy at Tractor supply or northern tools, or lowes or home depot

No matter what sticker is on them , is more or less the same

they each spec the machine just a tad different and are made somewhere often in India lately

Biggest problem is the speed at which they have to run , they just don't last long with any type of harsh enviroment

home garage, couple hours here , couple hours there .. ok but, thats about it

The motors on them are cheap, they burn up, the pressure switch if you use it like 5 hours a day will go out in less than 6 months

They sell well at Pate for people to make smokers out of, we bring two trailers full of them a year

Well as of now, I like this new IR compressor, Ive had good luck in the past thats why I went with IR again. If I had to pick another compressor Ill go with a USA built one and bigger one. But for the price I got this down to and as well the reliability Ive had in the past with the same one I couldn't pass it up.. I wanted to hit up that compressor place in Keller but never got around to it.

Talked them down(Store manager), and as well the belt "shroud" or protector that protects the belt was damaged.

I'm glad your business is doin good enough to buy what you need.

Maybe I'll come see you about a complete color change paint job for my truck. It's still gonna be a couple of months.

Thanks, My pops is the one helping me out buy all these tools. We are going 50-50 on everything.
And we dont have a shop YET. The link below is a buddies shop, which is a few stalls down from me(where me and pops work on our cars and do body work out of our shop). We do all his body work and he just paints. He doesn't like doing body work and we dont like painting that much so it makes out to be good for the both of us.
And about your truck, hit him up. Tell him Manuel off of this Forum told you to go. He will take care of you, and the body work me and my pops can guarantee our work.
